Iain's first foray into music was at the tender age of 11!! playing the Tenor Horn as a founder member of the school brass band. Progressing to playing in the Cumbria Youth Brass Band, and VSEL Senior Brass Band.

In his late teens he switched instruments to the Guitar, playing in some local Rock and Indie bands and still enjoys playing and collecting guitars as a hobby.

Iain first became interested in the local stage back in the mid 80's and has had the immense pleasure of playing the Tenor lead roles in over 30 productions to date, from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, to modern Musicals and Grand Opera.

Some very fond memories include performing in the presence of Prince Edward in the 1988 Furness Abbey Mystery Plays, and Howard Goodall, (Classic FM presenter, and popular TV theme tune Composer) who came to watch the 1996 'Old Laundry Theatre' production of 'The Hired Man'   which he wrote the score to, and where Iain had the privilege of playing the title role.

Under the musical directorship of  David Chapman, Iain spent 15 years training his voice for singing opera repertoire with a local group of classical singers called 'Encore' till 2009. Phil approached him a year earlier with the idea of forming a male 4 piece to do a couple of songs at a concert he was involved with. Ten years on and Voce has gone from strength to strength, with an eclectic mix of musical theatre, opera and contemporary music, and hope that we can continue to entertain our audiences with our unique and thrilling sound!
